The geography, briefly

Legacy West is the mixed-use district at the tollway and Legacy Drive in Plano. It has the Renaissance and a set of high-end apartments, plus a walkable street of restaurants that fills up hard at lunch on weekdays. The Toyota and JPMorgan campuses sit just east and south of it. A few miles north, across 121 in Frisco, The Star is the Cowboys' headquarters and practice facility, anchored by the Omni Frisco Hotel. Further up, the Omni PGA Frisco Resort has become a serious conference and golf destination.

Drive times you can actually plan around

Midday, no incidents. Add generously for the 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6:30 p.m. windows, when the tollway southbound in the morning and northbound in the evening behave like a parking lot with ambitions.

The tollway is the spine of the corridor. It's fast when it flows and miserable when it doesn't, and there is no great alternative for the north-south run. Preston Road is the fallback, and it's slow. This is why we stage vehicles up north for early pickups rather than dispatching from Dallas at 6 a.m.

Airport transfers from Plano and Frisco

Book the flight number, not just the time

Decide on curbside or meet-and-greet

For a solo executive with a carry-on, curbside works. For a first-time visitor, an international arrival, or anyone you'd rather not have wandering Terminal D looking for a black SUV, a meet inside baggage claim with a name sign is worth asking for.

Leave earlier for departures than you think

Legacy West to a DFW gate on a weekday morning is a two-hour exercise if you want to sit down before boarding. The 121 westbound merge onto the airport's north entrance is a reliable slowdown. From Frisco, add ten minutes.

Meeting days: the case for an hourly hold

A common pattern: a visiting executive lands at DFW at 9, has a 10:30 at a Legacy West office, lunch on the Legacy West strip, a 2:00 at a second campus down the tollway, and a 5:40 flight home. Booking that as four separate point-to-point trips is possible. It's also a good way to have a car arrive late for the 2:00 because the lunch ran long.

An hourly hold keeps the same vehicle and chauffeur with the traveler all day. The car is outside when the meeting ends, whenever it ends. Both venues host conferences, sales kickoffs, and hospitality events that bring in dozens or hundreds of out-of-town guests. The transportation challenge is usually the airport shuttle wave: everyone landing within a three-hour window on day one and leaving within a three-hour window on the last day.
